Residents Enjoy Enriching Activities and Days Out

At Colinton, we believe that variety, enjoyment and social connection are essential to the wellbeing of our residents. Over recent months, our residents have had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of engaging activities, including scenic barge trips, live music therapy sessions, heart-warming performances from local community groups.

One of the highlights of our monthly calendar is our popular barge trips, which are thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who takes part. These full-day outings offer a refreshing change of scenery, with residents spending time on the water and sharing a delicious lunch on board. The trips provide an excellent opportunity for fresh air, relaxation, and meaningful conversation in a peaceful and picturesque setting.

In addition to days out, Colinton also brings the community into the home. We were recently delighted to welcome the George Watson's College Country Dancers, who entertained residents with a lively and traditional Scottish performance. Their youthful energy and joyful dancing brought smiles to every face and sparked happy memories among many of our residents.

Another recent highlight was a visit from the Buckstone Community Choir. The choir's uplifting music and warm presence filled our home with joy and created a shared moment of connection through song. Music continues to play an important role in our activity programme, and we also regularly welcome Alicia Music Therapy, whose sessions offer a powerful way for residents to express themselves, reminisce, and relax.

These activities are part of our ongoing commitment to keeping residents active, engaged, and happy. By offering a wide variety of experiences - from musical events to days out on the water - we aim to support both the physical and emotional wellbeing of everyone in our care.

At Colinton Care Home, we understand how important it is for residents to remain connected with the world around them. Whether it's taking part in a music therapy session, enjoying lunch on a barge, or watching a community performance, every activity is carefully chosen to enrich daily life and support independence wherever possible.

We're proud to provide a vibrant and stimulating environment for our residents - because at Colinton, life is for living.
